So I go through a great deal of painters tape. So much that a few years ago I started saving the tape that was used in a painting and piling it off to the side. Eventually, a tape totem was created and still grows in my studio (I think it is 4 feet now).
I have learned how to really get the most out of this tape through peeling, unraveling, tearing, cutting, and carefully aligning it in a variety of ways. The point is I really like it and it is essential to my studio process so I decided to contact 3M and let them know they had a happy customer. I wrote them a complimentary letter praising them on their product and yesterday I received this box full of free tape in the mail.

This short was made by my friend TM Faversham. The drawing is of Lake Michigan and is part of an ongoing series.

From 8/30/09 to 8/30/10 I drew or painted a self portrait every day... one year of self portraits. There were many, many days that the last thing I wanted to do was sit down and look at myself, and oddly enough, some of those were my favorite ones.
